Columbia, SC─ July 1, 2013─ Voterheads, a Columbia-based start-up focused on civic engagement, announced today that it has officially launched its beta website for the Midlands area at www.voterheads.com.  The company aims to provide one simple web platform for citizens to keep up with local government and school board issues that interest them and communicate easily with their elected officials.

Karl McCollester, CEO of Voterheads says, “We want to make democracy more user-friendly at every level, but in particular, at the local level where people can find information on what’s happening at local council meetings, school board meetings, and much more. With today’s technology, being an empowered citizen is overdue, and Voterheads is committed to making this possible.”

Last year, Columbia City Council passed a resolution endorsing the Voterheads venture and promised to work closely with the organization to help accomplish its goals.

“Voterheads is the best tool I have ever seen to engage voters,” said Tameika Isaac Devine, Columbia City Councilwoman at Large.  “A lot of times, I find citizens want to be engaged but they do not know where to start.  Voterheads makes it easy for citizens to be informed, engaged, and interact with their government.”
