We’re happy to announce that we’ve just entered the Knight News Challenge. The Challenge? Improve the way citizens and governments interact. Sounds like us, doesn’t it?
The Knight News Challenge will give a share of $5 million to each winner of the Challenge, in “funding and support from Knight’s network of influential peers and advisors.” There are 825 entries and the Foundation hasn’t specified how many winners it will choose. The first stage — called the “Feedback” phase — gives the public a chance to comment on and applaud entries so that they can be revised and developed based on feedback. Then, on March 29 (just 9 days away!), the semi-finalists (again, who knows how many) will enter the “Refinement” phase , which gives entries another 7 days to revise and finalize their submissions before finalists are selected and interviewed. Winners will be announced on June 25, 2013.
Check out our entry, give feedback, and APPLAUD us here! While the Knight Foundation has stated that applause and comments won’t influence the judges’ decisions, it WILL help us gain visibility on the contest site, to spread the Voterheads word and get garner some traction. Who know, maybe we’ll even get some good feedback to consider as we move forward. We’ve had a look through other entries though and — as usual — there are some who try to pieces of what we’re going to do, but no one else offers the complete, comprehensive, and BEAUTIFUL solution that is Voterheads.com.
So get sharing, feedbacking, and applauding, and we’ll keep you posted on the next stage of this particular journey.
